January Newsletter
I'm excited about starting the New Year, and I've got some great ideas to make this the best year ever for the children and their families! You have heard this before, and I'll say it again YOU are your child's first and most important teacher! Children today need the same things they have always needed. They need caring adults to talk to them, sing to them, read to them, play with them, and LOVE them.
We are starting the year with a unit on the animal kingdom. Having already classified living and nonliving we are now moving to the living. All living things can be classified into plant and animal. We started with the plants as we planted bulbs and have plant care in the room. Animal will be broken down with the following classifications; mammals, birds, fish, reptile, amphibian and insects. I hope the addition of animals in the classroom will teacher the children care of living things. Not to mention how much fun it is to watch the animals respectfully with hands behind the back. Sailfin Pet Store is graciously helping us with a new aquarium, we received the ants for the ant farm and have a dwarf hamster.
One hundred day will be Tuesday, January 31st! The children will be working with '100 works' in the classroom and can bring in 100 small objects in a sealed plastic bag. The bag will be returned. A group snack and a whole school assembly in the hallway will round out the day. Also on January 31st at 7pm a presentation on the Kindergarten year at Montessori will be given by the Directresses in the Butterfly Room.
The kitty Cat Room would also like volunteers to come in once a week and listen to readers. This only takes about an hour and is a great way to fill those 10 hours of volunteer time.
Thank you so much for your continued support and coming to conference day!
Happy 4th birthday to Hazel and Marshall !
