"The school has been an extension of our family, and I can't say enough positive things about what my children have learned there and how curious, confident, and capable they have become. They both were able to progress from three-year-old 'little kids' to being the five-year-old kindergarten 'mentors' in their classrooms, which is another great aspect of Montessori education. They both have a real sense of what it means to be part of a caring community. " by Laurie
Enrollment Applications:
The Enrollment Process
Families interested in the Montessori School of Champaign-Urbana are encouraged to contact the school to arrange for a tour and to complete an application form. Your child’s name will be added to the Official Applicant List once the application is signed and delivered to the MSCU office. Children who enter the preschool program must be at least 3-years-old and toilet trained. Children who enter kindergarten must be 5-years-old on or before September 1 the year of enrollment.
Enrollment for each academic year is determined starting in the preceding Spring. Families are encouraged to keep their contact information with the school updated, to update program preferences (see our Programs page), and to communicate with the school as their children approach the age of eligibility.
Upon acceptance, a $300 non-refundable deposit is required to guarantee a spot in the class ($150 of which will be applied to the May tuition payment). In addition, several forms must be completed and returned by the first day of school: the health form (by the child's physician), the emergency care form and school questionnaire (by the parent(s)). There is an eight week trial basis to ensure the compatibility of the child and the program.
The child and parent(s) visit the classroom before the first day of classes. The visit gives them the opportunity to become acquainted with the head teacher ("directress") and the Montessori materials. The visit will be scheduled in advance with the directress. She will answer any questions the student or parent(s) may have.
We do have limited scholarship opportunities available. The scholarship application and information on the process may be accessed in the Enrollment drop down menu.
